So it’s been a bit slow around here lately. I only read one book last week–well I only completed one book–I’m midway through two others at the moment. The long weekend isn’t helping with my reading. I’m staying at a friend’s for the easter break and well, solitary reading doesn’t really fit the bill. Most of these books here are ones I picked up at Kmart last weekend. I was going to grab Pandemonium as well, but it’s in a larger format, so I’ll wait until I can get one to match the size of Delirium. I thought I’d heard good things about Night World, but it turned out, that I was thinking of another series that had been put out in bind-up form. So–oh well, maybe I’ll end up liking this one, maybe I won’t. My UK copy of Immortal City came in the mail, and I was all excited–but then I tried stacking a heap of books on the shelf above my desk at once and they ended up tumbling to the floor, the cover bending back in half–grr. Still perfectly readable–but I’m annoyed with myself. Anyway, it’s Easter today (and a certain book blogging Kate’s birthday!), so I’m going to go raid the chocolate. Have fun reading!

Riley’s beginning to think being a demon trapper isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Her dad’s been stolen by a necromancer, her boyfriend’s gone all weird and she’s getting warm and fuzzy feelings for someone who’s seriously bad news. It’s tempting to give it all up and try to be normal, but that’s not an option. Because the demons have plans for Riley. And they’re not the only ones.

Final Thoughts:
While the first book introduced lots of world building, this one felt scaled back in that regard. The dystopian-esque setting takes the backseat to Riley’s love life and the trust issues surrounding her after the events of Forsaken. I liked the romantic focus, but when there’s a love square (yes – she has three potential love interests) you end up spreading things a little thinly with some of them. The final quarter of the book does pack some serious punch though, so if you can stick around until then it’ll probably hook you enough to come back for book three.

Riley has always wanted to be a Demon Trapper like her father, and she’s already following in his footsteps as one of the best. But it’s tough being the only girl in an all-guy world, especially when three of those guys start making her life more complicated:

One thing’s for sure – if she doesn’t keep her wits about her there’ll be hell to pay…

Final Thoughts:
Demon hunting in a slightly dystopian world. Took a while to connect with, but stick with it as Forsaken is full of personal struggles, financial struggles and power struggles. There are many potential romances circling the main character which leave you wondering who Riley’s going to end up with, if she’ll make it as a trapper in an all-guys world and if she’s going to be able to save that world from the demonic invasion.

I’m half way through this one. It’s starting growing on me. It’s just taken me a while to click with Riley. Beck is a more interesting character, so I’m glad this book is told through dual POV’s.

The reaction was immediate. Riley’s shriek nearly deafened him as she shot straight up off the mattress. He forced her down as she screamed and cried, her fingernails digging into the flesh on both his arms. He winced at the rush of pain as she forced his healing wounds. No matter how bad it hurt, it was nothing compared to what she was feeling. Come on, girl, pass out, will ya?

I met Maggie yesterday and got eight books signed, the five paperbacks I had, and this hardcover set. She even signed the front of the box that they go in. I got a few of my giveaway wins this week. I especially can’t wait to start on Anna Dressed In Blood. I received a couple review books too. Thanks to Kensington for Unwelcome, which I just reviewed a few days ago. I’ll be reviewing Forsaken and Forbidden next week after I finish Burn Bright which I’m half way through at the moment. I’ve been waiting on Twisted for a while. I love the Intertwined series so I’ll be pushing that up in my TBR so I can get it to it soon. I bought My Name Is Memory on a whim, it looks like a clone of Fallen with matching character names and similar blurb. And lastly Blood Bound, it’s another I have to make time for. I love Rachel’s books, so I’m hoping I’ll get just as addicted to her new series.

So these are the books I’ve bought in my first week of blogging. I finally received my copy of the second Morganville bind-up, so I’m going to be reading that soon. Firstly, I have to finish my last two library books (Shift and Alpha by Rachel Vincent) as they’re due back very soon. I really love the colours and design on the covers of Mercy and Exile by Australian author Rebecca Lim, they looked so good in store that I had to get them both straight away, hopefully the story stacks up.
