I know celebrity written books tend to get frowned upon, but Elixir was actually quite enjoyable. If you’ve been avoiding it like the plague because of the author, maybe try it from the library and see what you think. It plays heavily on reincarnation, soul mates and immortality. And after the way the first book ended, it was begging for a sequel. I’m glad that’s happening. I’m not too fond of the cover design change though. The first book really stood out with its faux-suede purple cover with the flower, which had relevance to the story. It seems they’re trying a new direction with the artwork, and I think it looks too generic now. Either way, I’ll still be buying.

I’m definitely one of those that’s turned off by the Hilary Duff association, but I have heard, quite a few times, that “Elixir” was very enjoyable. Perhaps I’ll have to get over my bias. 😛

I guess that’s a good thing, if no one liked the covers, what would be the point hehe. They’ve rereleased Elixir in the new style as well so that you can have them match.

At the risk of sounding like an ignoramus – is this really written by THE Hilary Duff? Anycase, the series idea sounds great, thanks for clueing me in on it!
Hehe yes it is (there’s a huge photo of her on the back), but inside on the title page it says “Hilary Duff with Elise Allen”. Hilary also gives her a ‘big thanks’ in the acknowledgments.
I swear, these covers are works of art, it seems. Absolutely beautiful. I’ve been told that I need to check this out, too. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to/add to my TBR!

About this book…yeah, when I first saw “Elixir” at my local Border’s, I sort of didn’t pay much attention to it precisely because the author is a celebrity. But I realize this is an unfair judgement, so I’m ready to give Duff’s books a try! This one certainly sounds very interesting!

Ive always picked her book up and would read the bits and pieces everytime i went to walmart to the book section,,,and would sit there and debate about getting it,,but I guess after this I think I might have to read the 1st one thanks for sharing

I saw Elixir at the bookstore, and was tempted to pick it up. But I am ashamed to say that I didn’t because of its author. However, I did want to read it, and if you say that it was good, than I guess I’ll check it out. I also agree that the Elixir cover was beautiful (that is actually what first attracted me to the book), but I don’t think the devoted cover is quite as appealing. I still think I’ll check them out though!

I must admit that I was originally put off when I saw the name of the author, but after reading the synopsis, this too shall be going on my wishlist!
