It’s been freaking ages since I’ve done one of these. About a year. I’ve bought books since then, but these are just the ones I’ve picked up in the last couple of weeks. Thanks to Pan Macmillan for surprisingly me with a copy of Jaclyn Moriarty’s new book. I had barely finished reading A Corner Of White when this one rocked up in my PO Box, taunting me, trying to jump ahead in my tbr list. The rest are all from my regular trips to my local Big W’s book section. They’re probably the only one of the three Australia discount department stores chains I’ve found that still stocks a semi-decent range of YA. At least where I live.

I’m hearing good things about Disruption, so I’d like to check it out before it becomes another one of the unread books collecting dust on my shelves. Fangirl, I haven’t heard much about, but I did a quick Goodreads check in-store on my phone and all looked good so I added it to my shopping pile. And yes, you are seeing right, I did buy all four of the Bold And The Beautiful tv-show tie-in romance novels. $6 each, and based on my favourite scheming, angst-riddled soap, there really was no other choice.

That’s it for this time. Hopefully, it isn’t another year before my next book haul.
So, what books have you gotten lately? Let me know in the comments.

The Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa (purchased)
The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa (thanks to Publisher)
Covet by Melissa Darnell (thanks to Publisher)
Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout (purchased)
Spark by Brigid Kemmerer (purchased)
Endless by Jessica Shirvington (purchased)

I only actually got three of these this week. I haven’t done one of these for over a month now–I just haven’t had the time. Last weekend I was busy going to a Patrick Wolf concert, and the ones before… well, I’ve been behind. I just read Storm by Brigid Kemmerer yesterday and really got into it, so I’m hoping that will keep me in the mood to read. That being said, I did pick up Gossip Girl Season Five yesterday as well, so I could end up marathoning that instead. Onto the books I picked up..thanks to Harlequin Teen for sending The Lost Prince, although I haven’t read any of the Iron Fey books yet, so I think I need to get onto that. I can’t decide what to pick up next though, both Onyx and Spark are calling to me. But knowing myself, I’ll probably end up picking up something else entirely.

Title: Embrace (Violet Eden Chapters #1)
Author: Jessica Shirvington
Published: October, 2010 by Hachette Australia
Pages: 382
Rating: ★★★★☆
Purchase: The Book Depository

All Violet wants is to be with Lincoln. But he has a secret so great it could tear them apart.

Then there’s Phoenix. He’s intense and enigmatic, but always there for her.

Caught up in a battle between dark and light – where angels seek vengeance and humans are warriors – Violet must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice. And who to trust…

The wrong choice could cost not only her life, but her destiny.

Final Thoughts:
It’s obvious from the blurb that there’s a love triangle on the way. I usually love these, but this one not so much. It was heavily weighted to one side, and for me it wasn’t the side I wanted. There’s lots of build up to one relationship and then bam, you’re shoved into the other one. I realised there was a need to develop the second pairing, but the way it was done came across somewhat jarring considering the strength of her feelings towards the first guy. Now with that said, I actually did love this book. The plotting is very well thought out, with lots of depth to the angel lore that is sometimes lacking in others of the genre. Everything comes together well, with lots of tension and revelations. It renewed things enough that I can forgive the romantic detour.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: Grab your current read and share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

There’s definitely a triangle going on here. Personally, I’m liking Lincoln so far in this Australian angel series, so here’s a little snippet between him and Violet that stood out to me.

“Do you really think that exile can protect you? Are you really sure he isn’t the very thing you should be running from?”
I half laughed. “That smacks of jealousy, Lincoln.”
He didn’t look up. “Of course. Isn’t that what you were aiming for?”

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by The Story Siren, which allows bloggers to share what books they’ve received in the past week. They can be from stores, contests, tours or publishers!

Dead Kiss by Daniel Waters (purchased)
Daughter Of Smoke And Bone by Laini Taylor (purchased)
Emblaze by Jessica Shirvington (purchased)
Department 19 by Will Hill (purchased)
Dark Angel by Eden Maguire (purchased)
Blood Rights by Kristen Painter (purchased)

I stopped in to Kmart on Friday to see if they had Angel Arias in a few days early. No such luck. I did however end up walking out with six books I hadn’t intended on buying. I didn’t particularly like this Daughter of Smoke and Bone cover when I’d seen stock photos online, but it looks a lot better in person. The shinyness won me over. Department 19 had been discounted to $4, so I grabbed it. It’s about some type of government conspiracy involving vampires. It’s going in my some day pile. I still need to start Jessica Shirvington’s series, since Emblaze is book three. I bought it thinking it might push me into making a move on those soon.
