It’s the end of 2011 already so I thought I would compile a list of the Top 15 books that I’ve read throughout the year. The titles link to my reviews for each if you want to check out what I thought about them. They’re ordered by the date in which I read them. It was hard enough narrowing down my favourites to just fifteen without trying to rank them too. Let me know if you’ve read any of these, or feel free to tell me what books you loved in 2011.

The Future Of Us by Jay Asher & Carolyn Mackler (thanks to Publishers)
Switched by Amanda Hocking (thanks to Publishers)
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare (purchased) – My Review
Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout (purchased)
Hushed by Kelley York (purchased)

I haven’t heard much about The Future of Us, but the blurb sounds interesting, so I’ll check it out eventually. I actually prefer the new red cover of Switched, but the Australian one doesn’t look too bad either, and I’m looking forward to starting the series. I just read Clockwork Prince a few days ago. I’d been waiting a while for it, so I was excited when my preorder turned up last Monday. There are links to my review in this post. The last two are both Entangled releases. I’ve been enjoying their other books this year, so I had to get these as well. There have been heaps of excellent reviews for both, so I can’t wait to start them.

Here are my latest reviews if you want to check them out:
Clare, Cassandra The Infernal Devices #2, Clockwork Prince
Clement-Moore, Rosemary, Texas Gothic

Title: Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices #2)
Author: Cassandra Clare
Published: December, 2011 by Margaret K. McElderry Books
Pages: 502
Rating: ★★★★☆
Purchase: The Book Depository

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will; the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Final Thoughts:
I couldn’t wait to start this one, having thoroughly enjoyed Clare’s previous works, but after rushing into Clockwork Prince, I felt slightly let down. It took me four days to read, as I needed to take a break every hundred or so pages. It wasn’t until around the sixty percent mark that I felt I couldn’t put it down. I still enjoyed the book on the whole—both Will and Jem were amazing—but there were moments where I wanted something more exciting to occur, some greater danger. But if you’re in it for the love triangle moreso than the Shadowhunter plot, you’ll love it!

My pre-ordered copy finally arrived yesterday and I couldn’t wait to get into it. Luckily for me, I’d just finished my last book so I could slot it right in. Loving Will so far, but Jem’s not doing so bad either…

“She’s a mundane—an Ascendant,” Jem said quickly. “Soon to be my wife.” He took Tesssa’s hand protectively, and turned it so that Gottshall could see the ring on her finger.

As you can see, my mailbox went into overload this week. Lots of my bookdepository orders arrived (every single book packaged individually), but I still have a couple more I’m waiting on. I went to the city this week with my friend Brittany from Nice Girls Read Books and we stalked all the bookstores we could find. We nearly got stuck in a back alley tow away zone trying to find a park for one of the little independent bookshops. City driving, not fun… On top of the 12 books that arrived in the mail, I grabbed 6 at the shops on impulse and picked up 7 more from the big library in the city. Out of all of these, I’d read six already (Wake, My Soul To Take, Intertwined, Unraveled, Clockwork Angel and Infinity) but I needed them for my collection. I especially love the shiny foil coverslip on Clockwork Angel, it looks great sitting beside my TMI hardbacks.
